Registry Restore problem......

Postby chaoscreater » Tue Jan 26, 2010 11:16 pm

Hi all, i'm new to this forum and hope someone can help me out on this.

First off, i'm quite new to using Sashimi, so i haven't understood how to create registration backups of certain applications, and it seems complicated because i'm not good with registries and some registry keys or strings are gibberish and don't make sense so i wouldn't know what to backup, plus i have too many apps that needs to be registered so instead i used the FULL BACKUP option.

Well, today my phone bricked because i installed something that i shouldn't have, so i did a hard reset and used SASHIMI to restore all my files. After everything is installed, i then chose the restore backup or restore registry option in Sashimi, and it doesn't detect anything in the folder that it was backed up to. By default, the registries are backed up to the "backup" folder, i can see the file is in there but Sashimi doesn't detect it.

I also backed up my pim.vol file in the same folder as well, and when i chose the option to restore my pim.vol, Sashimi can find it and restored it fine, after restarting my phone all my contacts that had pictures assigned to them show up fine, so it's weird considering that pim.vol restore works fine but registry restore doesn't, even though both the registry and pim.vol backups are in the same folder.

Another weird thing is, if i choose the option 'backup registry', it can detect that the 'backup' folder already contained the registry backup, and yet 'restore registry' doesn't detect it.....

Lastly, i also use SKTools and using the registry explorer to import the registry works fine. But still, it's weird since Sashimi couldn't do it. And also, even though i imported the registry, which is a full backup btw, after restarting the phone some applications were still not registered.......

By the way, this is the first time i've tried using the restore registry option, so it's not like this worked before with Sashimi and now i'm having problems, this is just my first time having this problem.
