Glad you got it working. I am not 100% sure on the format either without doing some more research.

However, I will tell you that I manually create .reg files with notepad on my PC all the time and save them with the default encoding of ANSI and they work fine.

There may however be some certain complex registry keys (like multi_sz) that requires unicode.

There are so many different formats out there with different devices and the different reg programs (seemingly older Win CE versions had slightly different format too).

That is why I provide the ability within SASHIMI to both export and import so you can be sure that what it takes out will go back in.... Once you start using other 3rd party programs you may run into these compatiblity issues.

I have a question for the sake of knowledge^^

I was facing some problems while finding the Registration Code of a eBook reader.
Actually I could find it, but the problem was exporting it. Usually I did that using PHM Regedit as in your guide, but the registry in question are, I think, encrypted so the registry key is a combination of squares, chinese kanji and numbers (and are displayed correctly while browsing the reg keys on the phone).
But exporting it with PHM Regedit I lost all the chinese characters so of course importing the reg back was unsuccessful.

Then, reading this thread and the different kind of encoding, I tought of using the SASHIMI reg export... and it works fine exporting the chinese kanji too!

So my question is... why the difference?XD

This is a GREAT tutorial and sure wish I'd seen it a couple of days ago.

BTW: the video tutorial is not posted to your the http://www.youtube.com/user/winmoexperts YouTube channel. Any chance you can post it there for those people that need the help? I've watched your other videos through a couple of times, but this type of info was nowhere to be seen. Also, you might want to put a link in your documentation too.

Thanks again!!

Windows only: Find your system running a bit different after installing that last program? Want to see if you can change how a program functions by tweaking one or two of its registry settings? RegShot, a free Windows utility, makes monitoring yed hardy perfumeour red hardy hoodiesegistry as simple as using a Polaroid camera. Take a snapshot of your registry before installing, then take another after you've put the new app in place. RegShot tells you what's changed in your registry, and can also monitor folders you specify for new and changed files. For getting to the root of a problem with Windows software, RegShot is a good tool to keep handy. RegShot is a free download for Windows systems onlyed hardy clothing
